Elvira Hosts This Years Chiller Theatre!

CHILLLLLLER THEATRE RETURNS! Chiller Theatre is back on PIX with the presentation of the 1964 classic “The Evil of Frankenstein” airing from 8-10 p.m. on Saturday, October 31. Chiller Theatre will be hosted by Elvira, Mistress of the Dark and will feature the original Chiller Theatre opens: “The Six-Fingered Hand” and the “Monster Montage.”

Chiller Theatre originally aired on WPIX from 1961-1978 and again from 1980-1982. After PIX resurrected Chiller Theatre in 2008 (with a broadcast of “Tarantula” hosted by Zacherley) the station received hundreds of requests from viewers demanding the return of Chiller Theatre to the air. This year, Elvira, Mistress of the Dark will host PIX’s Chiller Theatre presentation.

Elvira, who began her reign as “Queen of Halloween” in 1981, was the first horror host ever to be syndicated nationally and has emerged as one of the most original and outrageous characters in popular culture today. Her spooktacular career includes two feature films, an IMAX film and 2 motion control rides. She has recorded 5 music CDs, published 4 books and licensed over 400 products. Elvira also boasts the best selling female costume of all time. Played by actress-writer Cassandra Peterson, Elvira the legendary Mistress of the Dark will be hosting the interstitials throughout the 8-10pm PIX broadcast of “The Evil of Frankenstein”

The 1964 campy chiller “The Evil of Frankenstein” —from Hammer Film Productions, one of the most famous names in horror— Peter Cushing stars as Baron Frankenstein who resurrects his monster only to have him come under the spell of Zoltan, a svengali-like carnival hypnotist who mesmerizes the creature into doing his evil bidding.

The bloody mayhem will ensue from 8-10 p.m. on Saturday, October 3.

Visit wpix.com for exclusive web-only content including: a photo gallery and outtakes from the shoot, Elvira’s Top 10 List of Horror Movies, 11 Things You Always Wanted to Know About Elvira But Were AFRAID to Ask and the Ghoultown’s new video “Mistress of the Dark!”

CINEMA INSOMNIA AND AMGTV ARE BRINGING HOSTED “MIDNIGHT MOVIES” TO PRIME TIME AND COAST TO COAST!

Host and TV personality MR. LOBO is taking back the night from infomercials and sleazy reality shows.

A Cult TV series that echoes the local heyday of late night hosted horror films, Cinema Insomnia with Mr. Lobo, is now seen in cities across the country on AMGTV digital broadcast network.

The current distributor of the show, Apprehensive Films’ deal with AMGTV North America immediately covers all full-time affiliates. Episodes are available weekly to roughly 75 stations as well as hundreds of cable systems and networks served by the network, with a potential Clearance of 35 Million Households and six out of the Top 10 Markets

Apprehensive Films, plans to keep most of their bartered spot time in the show to promote Cinema Insomnia’s popular DVD line and other products they distribute for the cult film and DVD market. There will be Fall 2009 availability for select sponsors for placement in the all new Halloween Special featuring licensed “indie” film Mark of The Damned.

“Mr. Lobo is the Horror Host of The Modern Era…and should be on in every state in the union!”—John Stanley, Film Critic, Author, Host of Creature Features 1979-84

“I love Cinema Insomnia…Mr. Lobo is a legendary horror host in his own right.”

--Cassandra Peterson AKA Elvira, Mistress Of The Dark

“Mr. Lobo is the Best Thing Going!”

--Bob Wilkins, legendary host of Creature Features

Cinema Insomnia is expected by AMGTV to be a success in primetime 2009-2010 rankings. The shows senior consultant, Bob Wilkins, who passed away this year, and was the subject of two acclaimed documentaries released on DVD Watch Horror Films—Keep America Strong and American Scary, proved with his own show Creature Features in the San Francisco area that this kind of programming can thrive in prime time. Like it’s famous predecessor Creature Features, Cinema Insomnia has dual female and male appeal and is big in households with viewers 14-54. The series has grown in popularity each of its nine seasons.

Jonathan Morken of Apprehensive Films stated, “Cinema Insomnia combines all of the characteristics that made Bob Wilkins’ show a success in the 70’s and brings it up to date. Bob was senior consultant, when the show began in 2001, and mentored Mr. Lobo, who has since proven to be the nation’s premiere film host. Mystery Science Theater, Joe Bob Briggs and Elvira endure as icons but they’re not down in the trenches hosting these films every week anymore. Comparisons aside, Mr. Lobo has legions of fans and the show has brought ratings and delighted viewer response to every market we’ve put it in. We expect it to be a hit in primetime and overnights and will be enjoying substantial momentum from the show’s upcoming 10 year anniversary. Cinema Insomnia continues to be the ultimate late night hosted movie brand and its value to stations across the country should be exceptional."

So, pop some popcorn, get in your jammies, and prepare to fully enjoy this slumber party celebration of fun late night TV with your host Mr. Lobo Saturday Nights 9PM PST, Midnight EST on the AMGTV network.

CINEMA INSOMNIA SCREAMING ROOM

-- MEDIAPODZ Virtual Screening Room DebutsTHE MEDIAVERSE and CINEMA INSOMIA present a Multi-user Avatar 3D Webspace for fans of the cult TV show to "Hang-out".What do you get when you combine independent late night Horror/Sci-Fi TV with the 3D virtual worlds on the web? Whatever it is, it's scary, new and happening on Saturday, May 23, 2009 from 10 PM -12 AM PST at the deceptively ordinary "simple url" of http://www.cube3.com/cipodz.html, RSVP for this event at http://www.mediaverse.ning.com. The first 20 or so get in , the rest can watch.;)THE MEDIAVERSE and CINEMA INSOMNIA will be presenting the first of many virtual world web fan gatherings and special screenings of the nationally syndicated midnight movie TV show. This first event featuring new episodes and DVD's will be shown in the "SCREAMING ROOM." A custom-designed 3D screening room created by Cube3 as part of their forming Mediaverse Network.A virtual world network for fandom, THE MEDIAVERSE is mixing traditional web and TV media with the community elements of "hanging out" and the e-commerce abilities of virtual worlds and virtual goods. Built upon many web technologies and also in standalone virtual worlds like SECOND LIFE (The SKY CINEMA at http://slurl.com/secondlife/Sawrey/252/134/753), THE MEDIAVERSE, CINEMA INSOMNIA and it’s host MR. LOBO (a comic book convention and film festival show regular guest) are reaching out to offer fans a 24/7 immersive experience that one day might rival the "super-crowded" yearly conventions like COMIC-CON or WONDERCON and the weekly Sci-Fi/Comic shows that take place in neighborhoods around the globe. While most virtual worlds online have been either targeting corporate usage or children via games, these planned events are targeting the type of grown up audiences that are defined by the summer blockbuster movies and the XBOX."Virtual worlds online are great meeting places and clubhouses for the "like-interested" and fans personify that market " comments CUBE3, THE MEDIAVERSE creator. "Virtual worlds are not a mass broadcast media yet, but to couple them with a TV show and use them to build a community of fans makes a lot of sense and has been the type work we've been doing for over 10 years online. CINEMA INSOMNIA has an amazing cult following and MR. LOBO's shows are a perfect genre match to a virtual community building product like the MEDIAPODZ. The stuff is entertaining as social video to watch, and live MR. LOBO is one funny host."Presiding "live" as an avatar, the series horror host and cult icon MR. LOBO will be on hand to show a sneak preview of his latest DVD of the CINEMA INSOMNIA episode featuring the "WASP WOMAN " and talk with attendee fans about its creation, horror trivia, or answer any questions on their late night minds. In web2.0 tradition Mr. Lobo will "hang-out" with fans shilling any and all of the horror products he sells and even giving some away as prizes.Mr. Lobo says " Wow, this is great! This very well might be the next giant step for horror hosts —Radio had "The Man in Black", Comics had the "Cryptkeeper", early live TV had Vampira, National TV had Rod Serling, Syndication powered "Elvira" to the top, Cable ushered in "Mystery Science Theater", and now me and this stuff! -- But why cant I see my feet?"Other virtual worlds soon launching at THE MEDIAVERSE are a Worlds Fair-like CLASSIC SCI-FI POSTER WORLD to host more general Sci-Fi events online. The technology that offers the CINEMA INSOMNIA SCREAMING ROOM and MEDIAPODZ a no plug-in, multi browser-platform capability is "3DXPLORER " created by CUBE3 partner ALTADYN. This web 3D platform is one of the firsts to offer true real time 3D with multi-user avatars on both MACS and PC's. It also work’s in almost any web browser due to its use of a Java based technology that can offer a true mass audience reach for any client using the MEDIAPODZ on the Internet. Easy to set up and host, the MEDIAPODZ and the CUBE3 OFFICEPODZ can integrate with an existing traditional client website and with the use of web based standards, and can also be linked to more complex virtual world platforms like SECOND LIFE if required. The basic MEDIAPODZ and OFFICEPODZ Modules with client customizations and set up can be licensed starting at around $10,000 USD a year. More advanced "Meeting Packages" are available with features like invitations, record keeping and shared screen control for presentations. To learn More and to Experience "CINEMA INSOMNIA SCREAMING ROOM" first hand please visit:http://www.cube3.com/cipodz.html and please sign up for the first of many gatherings at :http://www.mediaverse.ning.com and http://www.cinemainsomnia.com About Cube3:Cube3, led by Larry Rosenthal, has been creating online 3D virtual worlds and projects for the corporate, consumer and entertainment markets for over 15 years. It's founders created the NYVRMLSIG and SFWEB3D groups that introduced thousand of designers to immersive 3D design and virtual world concepts. Chiller Theatre Returns To WPIX

with a Special airing of Tarantula on October 25th!

CHILLLLLLER THEATRE RETURNS FROM THE DEAD! For the first time in over 25 years, Chiller Theatre is back on WPIX with the presentation of the 1955 pulp horror classic Tarantula at 8 pm on Saturday, October 25th.

Zacherley, The Cool Ghoul (John Zacherle), and former host of Chiller Theatre in New York on WPIX (1963) will resurrect his alter-ego and appear in a cameo spot to open the WPIX October 25 special. Plus, the original chilling Chiller openers: The Six-Fingered Hand and the Monster Montage along with Tarantula trivia will run as interstitials.

In the 1955 film, a lab experiment gone awry creates a massive 100-ft. spider that menaces a small Arizona desert town and satiates its bloodlust with cattle -- before moving on to human beings! Tarantula features an uncredited cameo by Clint Eastwood in one of his first ever on-screen appearances. Directed by Jack Arnold (It Came From Outer Space, The Incredible Shrinking Man) Tarantula is considered by many to be one of the best of its genre and even inspired composer Richard O'Brien to immortalize it in the Rocky Horror Picture Show. (From Science Fiction Double Feature: "I knew Leo G. Carroll was over a barrel when Tarantula took to the hills!")

After our successful 60th anniversary celebration in June, WPIX received hundreds of requests for the return of Chiller Theatre. We are extremely excited to resurrect Chiller for our viewers with the special airing of Tarantula, said Betty Ellen Berlamino, WPIX/CW11 President and General Manager.

The original Chiller Theatre aired in all of its ghoulish glory on WPIX from 1961-1978 and again from 1980-1982.

In the meantime Zach is scheduled to appear in the next presidential debate. It is being held in the swamps of New Jersey. As we understand it the other candidates are unable to find the debating site so this may be another in for the Cool Ghoul. He won the last debate in the Louisiana Bayou when the other candidates failed to find that location.

Zach will be campaigning at the Chiller Theatre Expo October 24 thru the 26th. He will have a limited supply of campaign skulls and buttons for sale with his normal assortment of photos so be sure to be there and support Zacherley for President!

Zacherley Television Special Canceled

From the Zacherley website:

What? Can that be for real? After months of planning and hype the Zacherley special is off?

We have the sad news to report that after months of anticipation the Cool Ghoul, Zacherley, has decided to cancel his appearance as host on the WPIX Channel 11 Chiller Theater special.

Zacherley gave no reason for his decision but those close to him believe that he wanted to concentrate his time on preparing for his appearance at the Chiller Theatre Expo and his participation in the forthcoming presidential debates.

Zacherley, as head of the Z Party, is making yet another run for president. Recent support for Zacherley from the Undertakers and Grave Robbers unions has reinforced his decision to make a serious run for this most coveted seat.

Channel 11, as of this writing, still plans to air a Chiller Theater special. However, details were not forthcoming. Negotiations with Chiller Theatre Inc for use of the Chiller name were successful so Channel 11 is still serious about airing a special.

Rumors have circulated that the program may be moved back from Halloween to Saturday, October 25. Rumors have also circulated that Channel 11 may do filming or even live broadcasts from the Chiller Theatre convention but we CANNOT confirm this.

Please remember that rumors are rumors. We are certain that whatever Channel 11 plans to do will be fun and entertaining.

KTEH drops late night programming and Mr. Lobo

From Mr. Lobo of Cinema Insomnia:

Greetings my fellow Insomniacs and CInsomniacs!
It is with a heavy heart that Mr. Lobo must bring you this news.
Ken Patterson from KTEH Programming, who stuck his neck out and took a chance with CINEMA INSOMNIA three years ago, has informed me that KTEH will no longer be able to air CINEMA INSOMNIA. Accross the country the status of broadcast TV is grim and stations are scrambling to give the sponsors they still have more for thier money and to get more from the programming they aquire. I've been told, a report had just come out stating the internet ad sales made more money than TV ad sales last year and eveyone is feeling the burn. In the case of KTEH, late night programing will now be a repeat of 7PM to Midnight prime programming that will air from 1 AM to 6 AM. Starting in October they not facilitate ANY independent scheduling of programs in that time period. This is across all of the channels operated by KTEH and KQED, and was decided well above the programming department level. Ken proposed developing a 1 hour show aound movie serials--but frankly I'm a bit too devastated to consider that. Thuth be told, apart from the little bit of money from pledge swag and the rare sponsor I could drum up, KTEH did not pay me any money or respect for the shows themselves. Fortunately you, the fans, came through and DVDs, T-shirts, and live appearances have been my bread and butter. Over the past 3 years, it has been my honor and delightful duty to bring a "Creature Features" type show to the Bay Area and you are the 1 reason Cinema Insomnia exists at all. I hope you come see me at one of the many live events I will be appearing at during the holiday/horrorday season. Perhaps together we can explore new ways of spreading the joy of misunderstood films in the future..."for that is where you and I will be spending the reat of our lives".
Proud to be your horror host always,
Mr. Lobo

Nashville Horror Host Dr. Gangrene Begins Tenth Year On Air

Dr. Gangrene's Creature Feature Is Back In Action

Nashville, TN (09.01.08) Nashville Horror Host Dr. Gangrene will celebrate ten years on the air with the new season of Creature Feature that begins airing Saturday September 6, 2008 on WNAB CW58 Nashville.
A staple of local programming in Nashville, TN, Dr. Gangrene (Larry Underwood) has reinvented his program from a 30 minute public access television show to a two hour network bonanza showcasing classic and not so classic films.
The New season of Dr. Gangrene's Creature Feature has some surprises in store. Movies will now be broadcast with FACT-O-RAMA, a technology that allows interesting factoids about the films to appear on screen during the movie. This running commentary will bring new life to films you may have seen dozens of times before, or add substance for first time viewers.
"In true B-movie director William Castle fashion, we are proud to present these films in FACT-O-RAMA", said Dr. Gangrene. "Our tenth season promises to be our best yet, with new features, films, and fun. Viewers are in for a real treat, and a few tricks, too!"
As always, Dr. Gangrene is joined by his lovely assistant Nurse Moan-Eek (Linda Wylie). Together they guide you through the film through comedic and sometimes perilous adventures.
New Valiant Productions Cameron McCasland and Michael Creason have joined the Creature Feature Staff to Direct and Produce episodes alongside creator Larry Underwood. Earlier this year, McCasland & Creason helped develop the "Go Green With Dr. Gangrene" campaign. The Environmentally friendly ads became an immediate hit, with over 80,000 hits on the web including the newly launched http://www.gogreencrusade.com/
In celebration of ten years on the air, Dr. Gangrene was recently invited to throw out the first pitch at a Nashville Sounds baseball game. Dr. Gangrene has also launched new pages on Facebook, as well as www.myspace.com/drgangrenecreaturefeature for fans of the hit television show. Several public appearances have been scheduled before years end.
Dr. Gangrenes Creature Feature airs Saturday at 1:00 p.m. beginning September 6th 2008 on WNAB Nashville CW 58. It will continue in that time slot throughout September and October before a brief hiatus before relaunching in 2009 with more new episodes.
Dr. Gangrenes Creature Feature is a production of Shackle Island Productions.. For more information please visit http://www.drgangrene.com/
New Valiant Productions is based in Nashville, TN and is owned and operated by Michael Creason & Cameron McCasland. For more information go to http://www.newvaliant.com/
