From Mr. Lobo of Cinema Insomnia:
Greetings my fellow Insomniacs and CInsomniacs!
It is with a heavy heart that Mr. Lobo must bring you this news.
Ken Patterson from KTEH Programming, who stuck his neck out and took a chance with CINEMA INSOMNIA three years ago, has informed me that KTEH will no longer be able to air CINEMA INSOMNIA. Accross the country the status of broadcast TV is grim and stations are scrambling to give the sponsors they still have more for thier money and to get more from the programming they aquire. I've been told, a report had just come out stating the internet ad sales made more money than TV ad sales last year and eveyone is feeling the burn. In the case of KTEH, late night programing will now be a repeat of 7PM to Midnight prime programming that will air from 1 AM to 6 AM. Starting in October they not facilitate ANY independent scheduling of programs in that time period. This is across all of the channels operated by KTEH and KQED, and was decided well above the programming department level. Ken proposed developing a 1 hour show aound movie serials--but frankly I'm a bit too devastated to consider that. Thuth be told, apart from the little bit of money from pledge swag and the rare sponsor I could drum up, KTEH did not pay me any money or respect for the shows themselves. Fortunately you, the fans, came through and DVDs, T-shirts, and live appearances have been my bread and butter. Over the past 3 years, it has been my honor and delightful duty to bring a "Creature Features" type show to the Bay Area and you are the 1 reason Cinema Insomnia exists at all. I hope you come see me at one of the many live events I will be appearing at during the holiday/horrorday season. Perhaps together we can explore new ways of spreading the joy of misunderstood films in the future..."for that is where you and I will be spending the reat of our lives".
Proud to be your horror host always,
Mr. Lobo
